Quantum Many–Body Problems and Perturbation Theory

We show that the existence of algebraic forms of exactly-solvable A−B− C−D and G2, F4 Olshanetsky-Perelomov Hamiltonians allow to develop the algebraic perturbation theory, where corrections are computed by pure algebraic means. A classification of perturbations leading to such a perturbation theory based on representation theory of Lie algebras is given. In particular, this scheme admits an ex...

Causality in Relativistic Many Body Theory

Dirac sea effects are perhaps the most interesting characteristic of relativistic many body theory. In nuclear matter e.g. the effective mass of the nucleons and their coupling to the mesons undergo considerable corrections due to vacuum fluctuations [1], [2]. In addition, relativistic many body theory predicts strong corrections of the properties of hadrons at high nuclear matter densities. Un...

Equality of length-form and velocity-form transition amplitudes in relativistic many-body perturbation theory

Rules for obtaining transition amplitudes that are equal in length form and velocity form, order-by-order in relativistic many-body perturbation theory are presented. Explicit formulas are derived for first-, second-, and third-order amplitudes for transitions between valence states in alkali-metal atoms. Numerical codes are developed to evaluate amplitudes through third order and applied to 3s...

Development of Many-Body Perturbation Theory

The development of standard MBPT for single-reference and multi-reference cases is reviewed, and its extension to the relativistic case in the form of the Dirac-Coulomb-Breit (DCB) approximation is described. The latter scheme is non-covariant, and the recent development of a fully covariant MBPT scheme is discussed. This is based upon a new scheme for quantumelectrodynamical (QED) calculations...
